During lockdown my neighbour and I went exploring local area and found a path from a park to the bank of the brook. On the bank we found a swing, a bridge and a little hut.
The bridge was unstable and made out of weak and thin branches, which were tied together with basic string. So, my neighbour and I decided to call a few of our friends to help us build a more secure, stable and comfortable bridge.
We used our teamwork skills and cooperation skills. We carried wood and materials as a team. Worked together on different parts of the bridge to build it fast. Most importantly, we have learned to use our different skills, because we are all unique and are better in specific tasks.
With the help of my dad we have now built and opened a wonderful bridge that is now open to the public. We have named the bridge Northway Crossing. My friends and I hope this crossing will help others to be able to cross from one side of the brook to the other. This is especially useful, because one of the bridges has been closed for over 6 weeks now, due to being damaged. Some of our local residents already show their appreciation.
We really enjoyed learning how to make a strong structure and how important it is to plan little details before cutting materials.
Our next tasks will be making a raft and more comfortable place were we can hang out!
During spring 2021, our bridge had disappeared. One day it was there, the other it was not. We believe somebody took it for the wood materials, because they were of high quality.
